I had a great time on the tour yesterday. Totaranui beach wasn’t as amazing as it’s hyped up to be but still a beautiful beach. Karin is so knowledgeable about nz history, fauna and flora. Takaka was a great lunch stop, lots of nice shops and a Saturday market, great food places. The springs at the end were wonderful.
Blair was really lovely & funny & even let us go far later than our booked time when I made an error in planning! Was an amazing experience - such a beautiful area to fly over.... highly recommend! :)
Very well organized tour and kind and courteas tour guides. A very memorable trip to the Abel Tasman Park and Golden Bay
The Abel Tasman national park had great beaches and bush walks. It was sunny and beautiful. We enjoyed the tour on the water and the walk in the hills. The day trip was relaxing and nice. What impressed us most was the service of Wilsons. The day tour included a bush walk between two beaches and we were supposed to wait on a beach to be picked up on our way back. I made a mistake and waited on a wrong beach. The staff came to look for us and took us back to the boat. If it were not them, we would have to spend a night in the park. They were very responsible and kind. We will recommend the day tour and also Wilsons.
My partner and I really enjoyed our flight, 30minutes is more than enough time to see it all. Blair our pilot was great, and told of lots about the area. Would recommnend this to everyone! Thanks again.
It was such a fantastic day out. We got stuck behind an accident for 2/3 hours and they put us on a later boat with no stress which we really appreciated. Everyone who worked there was very friendly and you could tell they wanted you to have the best experience.
Just an amazing day, what a day way to see this beautiful part of the country. Thank you such a wonderful day.
We were fortunate enough to see a pod of dolphins and fur seals.
My kids 9 and 11 year olds absolutely loved this experience. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who loves tramping and enjoys beautiful scenery. What a fantastic day.
A great way to see Abel Tasman Park and surrounds. Murray, our driver/guide, was very helpful and informative. The short walk was very good for people like myself who don't do long tramps. The forest was invigorating and there was a waterfall and beautiful beach at the end. There was plenty of time to enjoy Barks Bay before walking to the next bay for pickup.
What a fabulous trip! Elaine kept us laughing the whole way and is very knowledgeable about the history of the area and of the types of birds. Very good value for money and it was more than just a tour to the Spit. The scenery is just unbelievable. Lots of opportunities to stretch your legs so that you're not stuck in a bus for 6 hrs. Would highly recommend!
At last got to go on the tour on Farewell Spit. Great day out, Great commentary, Great cuppa tea at the lighthouse. Just a little disappointed not to get to the end of the Spit. My husband decided to roll down the big sand dune on the return trip which was fun to watch, but not so much for him as when CRACK a broken rib was his reward. Still he is 56.
From the time we left Collingwood, to Cape Farewell [the most northerly point of the South Island]. over the Spit to the lighthouse we had a fantastic trip. Our driver and guide [Alan] was such a delight. He happily shared his extensive knowledge about the Spit, the wildlife, and history of the region. He provided an impressive, almost non-stop commentary. One of the passengers fittingly likened him to "Crocodile Dundee" of Collingwood, and this was demonstrated as he released the bus from the clutches of the shifting sand. We finished the trip with a vastly improved understanding of the ecology of the Spit. This trip is highly recommended.
A lovely brisk sunny day. Not as much walking to places as I had expected, we got off bus to wander a sand dune, look at a couple of interesting vista's at Fossil Bay and Cape Farewell. Alan, driver, was a font of endless knowledge. Stopped often to look at all sorts of different birds, from the bus. I enjoyed myself.
A fabulous day trip offering an insight to a part of NZ that few get to see. Kirsten, our tour guide, was energetic and full of enthusiasm to ensure we all got to see everything this unusual habitat had to offer. It was hard to imagine how 6.5 hrs on a tour bus was going to stay interesting but you are off and on so often that time flies by and the end comes too quickly! You dont need to be an avid bird watcher to be in awe of the beauty- Kersten will ensure you know what you are seeing and provide a fullfilling experience of NZ nature. A definite tick on the bucket-list.
The day was well organized and we had a great guide Elaine was some great sense of humor and lot of local stories. We travelled in a well mainted bus and saw good amout of wildlife. I really enjoy the day on farwell spit. The only small disadvantage in main season travelling is, that it was not quiet lonely, but four busses have been with us on the trip. Even with many people up the pile of sand it was a great day.
Great tour and very knowledge local guide. Must do for all NZers.
History, wildlife, adventure..... Amazing ! Big thanks to our driver/guide
A great day out and learn a lot about the history of the area. The driver (Sorry forgotten his name) was a oracle of knowledge. Plenty of stops on the way to take photos and view the area. Nice cupper and muffin at the lighthouse keeper house, before heading back to Collingwood.
The Farewell Spit Eco Tour Company is extremely professional, well versed on all aspects of flora & fauna, vehicle perfect for the journey, plenty of stops, safety is paramount in all they do and all the staff are friendly and well aware of each persons requirement. I can't speak highly enough about them and I was but one on the vehicle who received this attention. Finally, the Farewell Spit Eco Tour team have the highest regard for the environment.
I absolutely loved this tour, the guide was awesome (I am pretty sure his name was Tony), and he knew everything about Golden Bay and Farewell Split.
Great trip. We were so fortunate to catch the sunrise on the beach. Us bus driver was awesome, with so much knowledge about the spit history and wildlife.l
This tour proposed by Farewell Eco Tour is an excellent experience to live in Golden Bay! It's fun to be in the red bus, with an interesting guide who explains the dynamics of the area, takes us to a sand dune and the lighthouse, and shows us the animals. We also see the beautiful Cape Farewell. I just regret that we are not taken to Wharariki Beach. Definitely go for it!
Farewell Spit has been on my mind ever since I saw it out the window of a plane heading to Australia. I"m so glad I did the tour. It was an amazing day full of gorgeous scenery unlike any other I've experienced in New Zealand. Birdlife abounds as well as seals. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable with the history of the Spit and the surrounding area. The bus was very comfortable to ride in and there were plenty of opportunities to get out and explore. A must do while in New Zealand.
