Prepare for the adventure of a lifetime as you embark on a journey along an ancient path of where the glacier once stood in Franz Josef Glacier Valley.
Your experienced guide will lead the way, as you begin the hike adjacent to the Waiho Riverbed and climb toward the mighty Franz Josef Glacier itself.
You'll encounter breath-taking scenery illustrating the path of retreat the Glacier has taken over time, including waterfalls and ancient temperate rainforests plus there's plenty of unique flora and fauna to discover along the way.
The glacier's history is absolutely intriguing as is the legend of Ka Roimata o Hinehukatere of which your experienced guide will enlighten you on.
Near the end of the walk after a brief climb you will be rewarded with spectacular views of the rapidly changing terminal face of the glacier, which offer stunning photographic opportunities.
There has never been a more extraordinary time to visit Franz Josef Glacier, one of New Zealand's "must see" natural sights.

Super Tour trotz schlechter Sicht
Die Tour, der Guide und die Gruppe an sich waren fantastisch. Man lernte einiges über die Geschichte des Gletschers und der Maori. Allerdings hat es durchweg geregnet, weswegen wir den Gletscher letztendlich nicht gesehen haben. Die bereitgestellte Regenkleidung ist aber vollkommen wasserdicht und so standen wir dann direkt unter einem Wasserfall, ein Highlight:) hätten wir den Gletscher noch gesehen, gäbs 5 Sterne. War ein bisschen schade, dennoch kann ich die Tour nur empfehlen.

Die Tour war super! Sehr informativ und lustig, die Guides waren toll und man kommt dem Gletscher eben so nah wie man kann!Kann die Tour nur weiter empfehlen!

Well organised and equipped walk
Trip was well organised : good views of waterfalls en-route and shame that the glacier from a distance was somewhat underwhelming.
