Enjoy a 1-hour guided tour at Pūkaha National Wildlife Centre with one of our knowledgeable rangers. Our wildlife centre is dedicated to preserving our the restored forest which is home to endangered wildlife such as brown kiwi, pāteke (brown duck), whio (blue duck), takahē, kōkako, kākā, orange-fronted parakeet, tuturuatu (shore plover), and tuna (longfin eels).

Our dedicated ranger will share his/her knowledge and the untold stories behind our birds and plants in the forest. Learn about our captive breeding programmes for native species and how we take part in the forest restoration project.

Grab a spot of lunch and refuel at the Kākā Café which serves fresh kai (food) overlooking the takahē! Enjoy a range of freshly baked goods and favourites including wraps, paninis and toasties. Kākā Café includes a special children’s menu and caters to a variety of dietary requirements.
