A Magical Underground Adventure

Visiting the glowworm caves was an otherworldly experience that I’ll never forget. As soon as we stepped into the caves, the cool, damp air and the echoing sounds of dripping water set the tone for an incredible journey. The highlight was definitely the boat ride through the dark caverns, where thousands of tiny glowworms lit up the ceiling like a starry night sky. It felt like being in a completely different universe—peaceful, surreal, and utterly mesmerizing. Our guide, Tim, was knowledgeable and shared fascinating insights about the glowworms and the cave’s history, which added to the experience! The natural beauty of the caves, with their intricate limestone formations and underground rivers, was breathtaking. This is a must-see for anyone visiting New Zealand—it’s a unique and magical adventure that truly showcases the wonders of nature.

Great experience, and great rescue

Tim was our guide, and as the water flow was high, we got to float the whole part, very cool. He knew a lot of extra information about the glow worms, which was super interesting. Craziest glow worm cave I have seen up until now, and I've already seen quite some. My friend, unfortunately, sprained his ankle very badly (which could happen anywhere really), because of which he couldnt continue walking anymore. Tim got him out with a kayak and also hoisted him up out of the cave. He even gave us a moonboot in case my friend would need it and joined us to the hospital. Thanks a lot Tim! (by the way, my friend is ok to walk again, but still needs to take it easy)
