BEST Schedule Around! Departing National Park Village, hike the Tongariro Alpine Crossing or Tongariro Northern Circuit or explore Whakapapa Village!
Tongariro National Park is one of the oldest National Parks in the world. It is a "Dual World Heritage Site", located in the Central North Island, in the Ruapheu district.
This amazing area has 3 active volcanoes and you get the chance to explore them by foot. There is an abundance of short walks, day hikes and multi-day hikes. The choice is yours to be as free as you like.
We are based in National Park Village overlooking our majestic volcanoes - Meaning we are super close! We have various departure times going to the Tongariro Crossing/ Tongariro Northern Circuit & Whakapapa Village.
No need to book a return time from the Tongariro Alpine Crossing. Just finish your hike and catch the next available bus back!
Great experience - the shuttle enables to join deaparture point of Alpine crossing and to be picked up at arrival (from and back to National park village)
Prompt shuttle, turned up when they said they would for pick up and drop off. Perfect experience, can’t fault it!
Efficient, punctual, easy to find.

Reliable shuttle service
The pick-up location was convenient, and the shuttle arrived on time. The driver gave great tips on making the best of the crossing. We had to wait over an hour to depart after finishing the crossing at 4.15pm. The 5pm shuttle departed at 5.30pm, as 2 people were unaccounted for. We had to wait for a DOC ranger to locate them. It was a shock to hear that if we missed the last shuttle (5.15pm), there was a $100 extra charge for a later pick-up. Less fit people that book a later morning departure to the crossing could easily miss it. Overall, I would recommend booking a shuttle if your accommodation is in the National Park. It's an easy and safe way to access the Tongariro crossing, and ensure you get out safely too. Unless you can arrange a private pick-up, it's probably safer than leaving your own vehicle on the road at the end of the route.
