The Tamaki Maori Village is surrounded by ancient Tawa forest and is located on the fringes of Rotorua, the heartland of Maori culture.

Upon your arrival you’ll be welcomed with a sacred and traditional ceremony before entering into the village which comes to life as fires blaze.

The climax of your cultural experience at the Tamaki Village will be a delicious 3 course feast. The Hangi is steamed underground on hot rocks and offers a true taste of this unique culture.

Mains: Traditional Hangi, Hangi cooked meats – Prime New Zealand Lamb & Chicken, Hangi cooked vegetables - potatoes, Kumara, carrots, Stuffing, Steamed NZ green lip mussels, Fresh fish cooked in garlic and butter sauce, Condiments – gravy, mint sauce, cranberry sauce, Green Garden Salad.

Dessert: NZ home made Pavlova with kiwifruit, fruit Salad, Hangi Steamed Pudding, Fresh Cream.

  • Pick up time is 5.10 pm. Our coach departs by 5.20 pm and travels to Tamaki Māori Village. Return time to Tamaki Gathering place approximately 8.45 pm.

This was a great experience and I learned a lot of very interesting facts about the Maori Culture. I felt the whole experience was made even more special knowing that all participants in the story telling, performances and show were all related. I would highly recommend this experience and they food was plentiful and delicious!
