Discover the beauty and wonder of the Redwoods Nightlights™

Highlights

  • Unique evening experience for the whole family
  • One of New Zealand’s top design led tourism experience
  • Enjoy a beautiful illuminated forest walk

Experience the magic of Rotorua's Redwoods Nightlights™, a truly beautiful 30-40-minute walk (from the first bridge) unlike any other. This top design-led tourism attraction showcases 34 exquisite lanterns, masterfully crafted by renowned sustainability champion, David Trubridge. Floating 9-20 meters above the forest floor, the award-winning walk spans 700 meters, crossing 28 suspension bridges and 27 platforms.

Whether you're seeking a unique evening adventure for all ages or looking for things to do in Rotorua at night, this illuminated forest walkway promises an unforgettable experience. Open year-round (excluding Christmas Day) and accessible for all, it's a must-visit attraction, making cherished memories for families and visitors alike.

We have special strollers available for infants and children and if you require a stroller, please be aware that this might slow down your entry onto the walk as we have a limited number of strollers and these are available on a first come, first served basis for all Treewalk ticket holders requiring one.

As we're in the peak season now (from December 2023), wait times *every night* will be significant and the time on your ticket may not reflect when you access the Treewalk due to the wait times, so please factor this into your itinerary and plans.

When you visit for nighttime, don't rush down at sunset as everyone has the same idea. If you are hoping to avoid significant wait times, arrive closer to the last ticket sold time.

Nightlights in the Redwood Forest

The Nightlights in the Redwood Forest in Rotorua is an incredible experience - really beautiful. But, I thought that booking through BookMe would give me access to the walk without having to stand and queue, but it didn't. So, I paid exactly the same as I would have if I'd turned up and paid at the time, and also had to queue, so there was no benefit to me to buy through BookMe. It's only worth doing if you get a discounted rate. I still highly recommend the experience
