Totally Tarawera - a truly memorable journey

We arrived at the landing not knowing what to expect. A perfect calm cool day for a cruise on the magnificent Tarawera with Waynes wonderful, sometimes humorous knowledge and wisdom. Our booking wasn't registered and Tracey helped make our experience very supported. What a team they are! We explored the lake and it's rich history, Wayne had us in awe, I couldn't believe our luck! We explored areas sacred, land, rocks, water, mountains steeped in stories of iwi's tribes, survival, love, life, death cycles. The mountains many cloaks shone through. The hot water beach - I'm already dreaming ways to get back. I would love to do the tarawera trail. Having time to explore and soak in this experience would be enriching. Wayne left us to ourselves at the healing thermal springs through the Bush amongst wilderness. Just the two of us taking in this serene place. We simply felt at the right place at the right time. Words cannot describe the gratitude we feel for your wonderful hospitality. Thank you so much. Namnita

Truly Excellent, Unique Experience

We had a beautiful afternoon on Lake Tarawera and enjoyed every moment of it. Our guide took his time to explain the story of the lake, the tragic eruption at the end of the C19th and the way local Maori use their land today. The situation is completely picturesque, with bush-clad hills rolling down to the lake. We were taken to the hot water beach and to a hot swimming hole, where we soaked, chatted and enjoyed the warm sun coming through the trees overhead. We'd recommend this relaxing trip to anyone looking for a genuine, warm-hearted NZ experience in beautiful surroundings with a wealth of history.

From Lake Tarawera - Hot Water Beach & Natural Hot Pool - Eco-Tour

Thank you Daniel for your wonderful review. It is always such an absolute joy for us to spend our time with people such as yourself in our little bit of paradise that we are very privileged to call our home. Like many of the Tuhourangi Tribe we still feel the enormity of the Tarawera Eruption just as poignantly today as yesterday or in fact over 100 years ago. Although we did not experience it personally it is woven into the very essence of our being. Thank you once again for spending some of your time with us.
