Experience the magic of Rotorua's volcanic and geothermal activity with this thirty minute scenic exploration flight!

Highlights

  • Unique floatplane scenic flight
  • Awesome views of Mt. Tarawera, Lake Rotorua and Waimangu Volcanic Valley

Take in the scale and magnitude of the devastating Mt. Tarawera eruption best appreciated from the air!

The 1886 eruption had a huge geographical impact on the region, among other things sinking the revered Pink & White terraces and causing an 8km long volcanic rift along the summit of Mt Tarawera.

One of our most popular scenic tours to explore the Crater Lakes District, your float-plane journey begins with the unique take-off from the waters of Lake Rotorua. This awe-inspiring scenic flight takes you south over the Crater Rift of Mt Tarawera, the magnificent steaming cliffs and geothermal lakes of Waimangu Volcanic Valley.

Returning via the Blue and Green lakes you're flown over the geysers and mud pools of Whakarewarewa and Rotorua City, landing skilfully back on Lake Rotorua.
