Lake Taupo, one of the largest freshwater volcanic craters in the world, is home to the famous Maori Rock Carvings.
Only accessible by boat, we will get you the closest to these incredible 10 metre high carvings which tower high over New Zealandās largest lake. Learn about the spiritual and cultural significance of the area from your skippers interesting and informative commentary.
With comfortable seating both inside and out, bathroom facilities and a licensed bar, weāll ensure your cruise on the Ernest Kemp will be warm and comfortable. Your skipper even welcomes you to join him in the wheelhouse and take a turn at the wheel! Bring a towel as there may be an opportunity for a swim *at skippers discretion.
The Ernest Kemp cruise is an enjoyable outing and a great way to see the Maori Rock Carvings and to get out onto Lake Taupo.

10:30am, 2pm, 5pm and 7pm = 2 hour (approx).
9:00am, 12:30pm, 4:30pm = 1.5 hour (approx).

Beautiful afternoon
Our family went on this and really loved it, informative guides and lots of opportunities for great pics. Comfortable and clean, friendly and good access to hot drinks throughout. Great way to spend the afternoon thank you.

Fabulous boat trip highly recommend
This boat trip was lovely , on a smaller boutique traditional boat. The views from the boat was amazing and interesting history about the Maori Carvings which the boat got close too. Highly recommend this company for this trip as smaller group onboard good value.

What a wonderful day!
Had a wonderful trip. The captain was very informative and had a good sense of humour. The deck hand was lovely, very friendly. We were lucky with the weather, blue skies and low wind. Perfect!

Fun little cruise
A fun little cruise looking at Taupo and - od course - the carvings. Having access to tea and coffee and getting a cookie is a nice touch. Great value for money.
