Saddle up and explore the treasures of Moke lake with this relaxed scenic horse trek located just 20 minutes from central Queenstown.

Perfect for beginners, families and children, all of our horses are hand picked to match each and every rider.

This 45 minute trek covers relatively flat terrain, allowing riders to sit back and get a feel for riding while taking in all the stunning scenery on offer. We cross grand Queenstown farmland and fresh slow moving streams before reaching the shores of Moke Lake for the perfect photo opportunity.

You can be assured a smooth ride - our horses are equipped with soft freeform endurance style saddles that provide maximum comfort for our riders while fitting perfectly on our horses. You will be accompanied by an experienced and supportive guide who will make sure you get the most out of the experience.

Notes

Extras: You may book a private trek for an extra $20 per rider, this can be purchased as you proceed through checkout.
Transfers: We offer complimentary return transfers (if required) from The Station Information Building in Central Queenstown (corner of Shotover Street and Camp Street) to the stables.
Location: We are situated at Moke Lake, approximately 20 minutes drive from Queenstown.
Please note we have a strict weight limit of 105kg for the health and wellbeing of our horses. Staff will weigh all riders before the ride, if your weight exceeds our limit on the day you will not be permitted to attempt the ride and no refund will be given.
During the busy season, it is recommended that you self drive in order to spend that little bit of extra time with our horses.
When planning your trek allow an additional 1.5 hours for transport, registration, introductions to your horse and riding demonstration.
Refund policy:
For all treks cancelled within 24h no refund will be given.
For all the treks cancelled with more than 24h notice a full refund will be given.
For all the treks cancelled on our behalf due to enforceable events a full refund will be given.

The most perfect afternoon

My husband and I had a lovely trek on two gorgeous horses, led by instructor Missy, who was full of facts about the area we were riding in. The horses were very gentle and we both felt confident riding on them, and also safe in the hands of Missy. We will definitely be coming back to Ben Lomond to do a longer trek next time we are in Queenstown, because 45 minutes wasn't long enough! Thank you Missy, and thank you Ben and Reno for giving us a fun afternoon.
