The pinnacle of relaxation and comfort, Onsen Hot Pools offers total tranquillity in a breathtaking location high on the cliffs overlooking the Shotover River canyon
While Queenstown is generally done at full pace, Onsen Hot Pools takes a step back to let you take in the beauty of the surroundings and simply relax.
At Onsen Pools, we are very proud of the boutique day spa experience that we provide.
Boasting idyllic private cedar-lined hot pools overlooking the Shotover River, and a newly opened massage facility, the relaxation and pampering on offer here is second to none in the region, as endorsed by our Trip Advisor Certificate of Excellence for the last 3 years and our partnership with Tourism New Zealand.
Originally opened in 2007, Onsen is proudly New Zealand owned and operated, offering a unique kiwi twist to a Japanese tradition. Our exclusive-use pools are heated to approx. 38.3 degrees and each tub is in its own pool room with a retractable roof so you can enjoy the spectacular views no matter what the weather.
Our natural setting is matched by the pure water captured on its endless journey between the sky and earth to continually fill and refresh the pools.
For the ultimate experience, you can also enjoy either a couples or individual massage and facial onsite.

Great time and weather was amazing
I didn’t receive the confirmation email and called them that I didn’t get anything but they didn’t do anything for me and said we sent it you should get it. No refund, no time change they didn’t do anything for me.
It has always been in my bucket list to visit and enjoy the pools in Onsen and I was not disappointed! We were given a view of the mountain caps and the river- it was definitely breathtaking. I love their staff, so welcoming and lovely. The place was also very clean. I will definitely come back. And a recommended place if visiting Queenstown. 💚💚
