For Lord of the Rings fans, this is the trip where Nomad Safaris really does take you There and Back again!
Bring the films to life with our authentic replica props, dress up and take photos, or simply soak up the scenery!
Visit the filming locations for Isengard, the Ithilien Camp, Lothlorien forest and the Seat of Seeing/Battle of Amon Hen, plus filming locations from the Hobbit trilogy! This scenic safari offers breathtaking mountain and forest views along the shore of Lake Wakatipu towards Glenorchy and the Paradise Valley.
You’ll travel up the Dart Valley to the location where Isengard was set, nestled amongst snow-capped mountains beside the turquoise waters of the Dart River. Offering views of Mt Earnslaw and its hanging glacier, from the first instalment of The Hobbit trilogy.
You may also explore the Paradise Forest, the location for the Forest of Lothlorien. On our return to Queenstown, we stop at 12 Mile Delta to explore the location of the Ithilien Camp.
The Safari of the Scenes - Glenorchy also includes locations from X-men Origins: Wolverine, The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian and many more.
El tour es lindo y el guía estuvo bien.
Our tour guide was a great driver and very friendly. He had all the information on the filming scenes we visited. The Toyota Landcruisers ensured a small group. It was fun and informative.
Loved going on this tour with Jenny, she had a wealth of knowledge on the Lord of the Rings, and all the locations that we visited had a great explanation plus a reference book to show screenshots of the scenes for each location. Well worth taking the trip to see some beautiful scenery, even if you aren't a fan of the movies!
Great experience. Thought there was gold panning involved but even so the trip was excellent
Hi Ian Thanks so much for the great feedback! We don't normally offer gold panning on our Glenorchy tour- it wasn't a really big miners area. Next tome come check out Skippers Canyon, Wakatipu Basin or Macetown and you can give it a go!

Viel dazugelernt!
