Enjoy an active winery tour on our full day self guided Bike The Wineries ride - explore the wine region of Gibbston at your leisure!
Your journey will begin with a scenic and informative transfer to the quaint village of Arrowtown which is steeped in rich gold-mining history.
Our local, knowledgeable team will fit you to your bikes and provide an entertainment briefing of your adventure ahead. Enjoy a coffee at one of the many cafes or get straight on your bike and get ready to take to the picturesque Arrow River Trail. You'll see the mighty Kawarau River and cross over the historic suspension bridge - now home to the Bungy, on the original Miners Trail.
From here you can ride the scenic Gibbston River Trail and visit the many award-winning wineries, a cheese deli, gin room and tavern that are linked through this easy riding trail. All trails are purpose-built, easy to moderate grade and off-road, with only direct road crossing between wineries.
Relax knowing that you only have to bike in one direction (no biking back to Arrowtown in a head wind!) and your return transport to Queenstown is taken care of. We'll even collect any wine purchases for you.
Wineries en route are:
• Gibbston Valley Winery
• Gibbston Cheesery / Deli
• GT Tasting Room
• Gibbston Tavern
• Rockburn
• Kinross
• Mt Rosa Winery
• Brennan Wines

Hi Carla, Thanks for your awesome review :) Look forward to seeing you out with us again soon! Thanks, The Around The Basin Team
Terrific experience and well worth the money. All the staff were great with advicecetc and the ride itself was outstanding- amazing views, decent tracks and interesting stops. Would highly recommend.
Fantastic company to bike with. Lucky to have great weather on our day. E bike for sure as the more wineries you visit the harder the little hills get! Lovely pizza and Pinot at Kinross. We would do this again
We were not aware that the 9am was a strict pick up time to be dropped out to the start of the track . As we had just come off a hiking track we were late to get there and missed the bus the lovely girls rebooked us on the 10.30 pick up which was great but no one ever stated this and we also checked in Qtown days before the booking to check it was booked and that person did not state it was a strict pick up time . We thought we could just wander in and start it from Qtown . Once we were on the bikes it was a beautiful day.
Hi Loretta All of the product information and check in times are clearly displayed on your booking confirmation along with details of what you have booked. As the product you booked involved a shuttle to Arrowtown we do always have scheduled departure times for this. We consider people know what they are booking when they have chosen a trip and booked online. Cheers Lisa - Around The Basin.
The ride was challenging at times, beautiful scenery and very well organised. It was a long way to get to the first winery - 15km. After that each winery was close so be prepared to put the effort in at the start. Staff were knowledgeable, energetic and friendly.
