Highlights

  • Experience New Zealand's most important historic location and journey back through time to the founding or our nation
  • Day Pass to the Treaty grounds with a guided tour and a cultural performace
  • Intimate themed evening and hangi experience
  • Set amongst beautiful gardens overlooking the spectacular Bay of Islands

Located in the picturesque Bay of Islands, the Waitangi Treaty Grounds is where Maori chiefs first signed their accord with the British Crown: the Treaty of Waitangi.

The Concert & Hangi experience is an intimate themed evening with a special dining experience. Your evening begins with the opening of the hangi (earth oven), followed by the high quality live cultural experience in the amazingly carved Maori meeting house (Whare Runanga), then enjoy your tasty hangi dinner at Whare Waka Cafe.

The day pass includes a guided tour and a cultural performace, we recommend the 3pm performance followed by the 4pm guided tour prior to dinner at 6pm, however the full schedule is available below for you to select. The day pass is also valid for the day following the hangi & concert - you will be asked to advise your preferred tour & performance time as you proceed to check out.

Fabulous entertainment and amazing dinner Hangi

I personally highly recommend everyone from overseas tourists to our New Zealand fellows to check this out. I have been to the daytime one and the night time one and they are both fantastic. The night time one is great to go to if you would like to experience the Hangi which was just amazing and cooked perfectly. The wonderful staff of the Waitangi grounds are very welcoming and explain everything so well. A lot of humour added in as well. I am a New Zealander and my husband is South African and we just love the atmosphere and this time took his sister from South Africa and she loved it. So I guess we wi be seeing you all again soon. Thank you guys.
