Witness one of New Zealand's most spectacular geothermal wonders which includes dramatic geysers, bubbling mud, and pristine native bush - all after hours! Meet your guide at the main entrance, and begin your tour.

For the first time, Te Puia unveils its magic beneath the night sky, offering a unique experience found nowhere else in the world! Discover newly formed mud pools and hear the timeless tales of Māori myths, passed down through generations.

Grab a torchlight and explore the valley, coming across intricate carvings scattered throughout the valley, and if luck is on your side, catch the call of our Native Kiwi bird. Indulge in a traditional Māori dessert at Ngāraratuatara,an impressive cooking pool, before making your way to the grand finale of the evening.

Let the allure and might of Pōhutu, the Southern Hemisphere's largest geyser, connect your wairua (spirit) with the beauty of papatūānuku (Mother Earth).

    • This is a 3km personally guided night trail under the stars, through Te Puia's geothermal valley. (approx. 90-minute duration).
    • Walking shoes and a medium level of fitness are needed.
    • Recommended Ages: 8 years and older (must be able to do a late-night walk).
    • Departs from the main entrance of Te Puia
