Its a bit difficult and challenging to reach the glowworm caves but its worth giving that time and efforts and thanks to Ashley the guide, je guided us really nice with patience telling the history of all parts of caves
Cannot express how much my girlfriend and I enjoyed this. Fantastic hosts, very educated and hilarious very patient in the caves itself and always safe. Much better that the touristy Waitomo caves tour only 6 people max per group with a more hands on approach with no lit pathways prepare to get wet and have fun. Can't wait to come back!!
This is experience, what we highly recommend! We were a small group 4 people. Our tour guide was a fantastic, he explained and told all very interesting, he made a photos, when we climbed up and down in the caves. Everything is taken with care, you will have the boots, clothing, towel and shower! We respect Glowing Adventures family and their team to show and share with us earty, pure nature!
We think it was a awesome experience. We were glad that we chose and went for this cave tour instead of taking the usual boat ride for the glow worms.
This is a family-run business and was not at all touristy. The cave is absolutely beautiful and completely untouched. There are no foot paths. You crawl over and around rocks, through the river, and into an intricate maze of caverns. My wife and I were fortunate enough to visit on a slow day. It was just the two of us and the guide. What an amazing experience. Ash was friendly, funny, and thoughtful. We took our time and spent three hours exploring. Toward the end, we entered a very dark cavern and shut off the lights that revealed an intricate display of glow worms on the ceiling. It was amazing! We had a great time. We would highly recommend glowing Adventures! Jerry and Trish
It was the best experience I had in NZ, it was a great adventure. The staff was extremely friendly and made it so much more fun. You go through caves that have been untouched and see the amazing glow worms in complete darkness. Me and my sister loved it. Make sure you don't miss a once in a life time experience. Plus you get free photos
A great day out! Small groups with a very knowledgeable guide. Some challenging spots but very doable for all. Get up close to the glow worms. Nice warm beverages & biscuits at the end in a beautiful setting to cap off a very enjoyable trip. Heath & Jen made us feel very welcome.
Could not fault this experience. We were looked after from the moment we stepped the door and loved the fact we were not rushed out the door after. Highly recommended
Klein gehaltene Gruppen - Ausrüstung, Fotos, Kaffee, tee und kekse inklusive. Spass und nasse füsse sowieso. Die Tour ist wirklich einmalig. Sehr grosse Rundgang in Caves. Uns wurde immer wieder Zeit gegeben Fotos zu machen oder uns länger umzugucken
Just great.
Perfect guide, funny ! Awesome aventure ! We loved it !!!
Ash was our guide for the Day, and we were lucky to only have a small group of 4. the tour starts with a quick safety briefing and a change of clothing ( required as it gets a bit cold in the caves) then the adventure begins you make your way through a paddock then to a stair which leads you down through to beautiful rain forest like area then down to a fresh water stream which is the start to the caves. Ash is a fantastic guide and is very helpful throughout your experience in the caves i recommend a medium level of fitness as there are no paths or man made walkways nor any lighting. the pay off is fantastic, the glow worms really put on a show. i would definitely go again, but would opt for a night tour.
The tour was great! I have never done caving so I was a bit worried, but it was great. This tour is not for the claustrophobics I would say. They gave us all tje equipment and the give took some great pictures of us. It's a small group tour so there are no crowds. One note, I wish I brought some knee protectors ?
If you are going to see glowworms, you have to go with glowing Adventures! No one else signed up for our time, so we got a personal 2 people tour. Not rushed, had all the time on the world. We got great explanations and our tour guide even took pictures of us, including a long exposure one that captured the beauty of the glowworms. We were provided with all the clothing/boots we needed, and got cookies and coffee afterwards. It's on their private farm, so the caves were in pristine condition, non-commercialized. Some areas got pretty tight, and required some scrambling, but your tour guide will guide you into the appropriate areas of the cave. Also inevitable to get water in the boots, but felt great and the clothing they supplied kept us at a perfect temperature. All in all one of the best tours we have ever been on! We were also fortunate to come in the spring when it wasn't too busy and get a great $100 dealing bookme.co.nz 2 days before!
It was a great time, so different experience in my life, Ashley is a great tourist guide.
This glowworm cave experience was so much fun! It was adventurous climbing through rocks, getting fully immersed in nature and the beautiful glowworms that we were able to sit in silence and just admire! Ash was our tour guide, he made us feel very safe, checked on us frequently, made the experience fun and even had amazing photography skills inside the cave! We were even provided with clothes & gumboots to wear inside due to walking through water & shower afterwards. 100% would recommend to do again, well worth the experience.
Glowing Adventures is a small family run business and they really take care of you. Our guide was brilliant, a classic cheeky kiwi, but he definitely made me feel really safe and knew exactly how far to push the group within our individual comfort zones. Its a very hands on experience and definitely amazing value compared to the more widely advertised Waitomo cave trips. The small group number was ideal too, just six of us, which meant by the end of our tour we'd all got to know eachother in time for tea and biscuits to round off a surprisingly fun trip!
Prob one the best tours I've done in my lifetime. Not rushed, knowledgable, and small groups are all key in making this a great experience. Highly recommend if you're in the area!
Not only was Glowing Adventures the best thing we did on the North Island, my partner and I agreed that it may have been the best activity we did on our holiday. Environmentally minded and totally authentic. Heath, our guide, was the man. Would highly recommend these guys. Worth every penny and truly a once in a lifetime experience that I would happily do again!! They even sent us some great pics of our adventure without charge or asking. And don't be afraid to take on the "challenges."
Really enjoyed the caving experience with glowing adventures! We got to wear gum boots and thread in water almost knee high, climb up large rocks, crawl through small crevices, see eels and take as many photos whenever we wanted. The best part, we did not have to wash our wet/soiled clothes as they provided us with the whole attire. The small group size (4 of us plus 2 others) enabled us to go at our own pace and ask as many questions as we wanted. We got to see glow worms as we lay on rocks and experience the tranquility of the darkness. Thank you glowing adventures for the wonderful experience!
The tour was an overall amazing experience! Small group, very personal. Our guide Heath did a great job showing us his cave and everybody was really friendly. Thanks heaps Glowing Adventures!
Amazing experience would recommend to everyone
It was awesome experience caving for 3hours in caves in small group of 3. And u'll rewarded with awesome theatre of glowing worm. Like a milky way of stars just above your head. Awesome experience and a must try adventure in waitomo!!
My family and I had an amazing experience with Glowing Adventures. My mum was a bit scared at some bits, but our lovely guides Kingi and Ash helped her along and gave step-by-step instructions on how to climb over the rocks in the cave. Kingi and Ash were full of knowledge and shared interesting Maori stories throughout our tour. We saw a spectacular display of glowworms as well, and spent a good time lying on the rocks and enjoying the glowing display. At no point during the tour did we feel rushed. We took our time and we all really enjoyed the adventure. It was definitely one of the most memorable experiences during our New Zealand trip, I would not hesitate recommending it to anybody.
Amazing experience...had a great tour guide and had lots of fun! Highly recommend!
This was an incredible experience. Spelunking at it's finest. The tour guide Keith was really friendly and extremely knowledgeable about the caves. Even the walk from The Farmhouse down to the cave system was a ton of fun. I highly recommend you give this company a try.
