Glacier Country Helicopters is a local family, owned and operated company. Husband and wife duo Poppy and Gus Gordon who are both commercial pilots started the company in 2014. You’ll find them at the hangar or flying one our helicopters most days.

Our friendly team are certified Qualmark Gold, have received the Traveller’s Choice Award several years and look forward to showing you the glaciers, rainforests and mountains that form our incredible back yard.

**Please note this 25minute flight has the highest rate of cancellation as it only has one flight route & snow landing site, so there are no back up options if its route is affected unlike the longer flights which have multiple options.

Restrictions

Weight Restrictions:
All passengers and any gear will be weighed at check in. If you are 120kg or over, you will be required to book a comfort seat (the cost is half the RRP of your flight).
Front Seat or Executive Helicopter upgrade requests cannot be made when booking a discounted seat
Age and Weight Restrictions:
Infants are up to 3 years (maximum weight of 15KG)
Children 4-17 years (or 16KGs and over)
Health Restrictions: Do you have limited mobility e.g. injury, arthritis, or recent surgery? There are two high ladder style steps into the helicopter. This information could affect what helicopter you fly you in. Please let us know as you proceed through checkout.

Bad Weather Refunds

If your experience is cancelled by the operator (because of the bad weather, safety concerns, unscheduled maintenance etc) you will be entitled to a full refund.

Notes

Flights require a minimum of 4 pax to depart. Solo travellers & smaller bookings are welcomed, and we will aim to pair you up with another booking.
Bad weather refunds: If your experience is cancelled by the operator (due to weather) you will be entitled to a full refund. Your booking is only valid for the time & route you have booked and is not be able to be rescheduled or transferred to an alternative.
Snow Landing: All routes and snow landings are subject to change at short notice including during the flight. If you are unable to snow land due to weather conditions and your flight is turned into an overflight (total time will be reduced by your snow landing time) you will be refunded the landing fee of $30 per person.
Cancellation policy: All bookings are non-transferable, and cancellations must be made 24hours in advance or 100% cancellation fee will apply.

Awesome Flight

Amazing, awesome experience. My husband had never flown in a helicopter and was a little anxious, whereas I had been in helicopters some years ago. After just a couple of minutes flying, he was absolutely loving it. Matt, our pilot was brilliant, describing the geography of the area and some history behind the glacier. This is a most do experience if you pass through Franz Joseph Glacier on your NZ Trip. Thankyou to all staff at Glacier Country Helicopters, it was an unforgettable memory that will be the highlight of conversations back home in the UK.
