We had a wonderful day out with NZ Bike Trails - Lake Dunstan cycle trail. The e-bikes we hired were great quality and the instruction and care my adult son and I received from the team was exemplary. As it was winter we were fortunate to go on a day that was not busy; in fact we had the entire trail to ourselves which was amazing. With snow capped mountains, crisp clear air and stunning views and cloud formations it was a wonderful experience. As the floating cafe was closed for winter the team gave us a delicious thermos of pumpkin soup each which was so appreciated and enjoyed. The bike ride itself was exhilarating. Technically it is quite a challenging ride and is very narrow in parts with tight turns. Not for the faint hearted - cycling experience and confidence is essential for this ride. I highly recommend a coffee stop at The Old Post Office in Clyde at the end of the ride. We enjoyed gleaning great local history and knowledge from our coach driver on our return trip to Cromwell.
It was one of the best New Zealand experiences we have had.
