Great Experience!

What a great way to see parts of NZ while tasting amazing wines! We had a great experience. Simon, our guide, was wonderful and we fully enjoyed the experience from start to finish. Would highly recommend.

Whirlwind Wairarapa Wine Tour

Very good tour if you want a quick peek at the Wairarapa. I went as a local and initially my friend and I considered organising a day trip ourselves and found this to be the best value as you are driven to and from the Wairarapa. The guide, Phil, was knowledgeable and even taught us locals something about the Wellington region. He was also quite flexible, e.g. Open to visiting different wineries to the ones he had planned. It was possibly a little short for us we felt rushed toward the end of the trip but you are doing 2.5 hours of travel in a 5 hour tour so it doesn't give much time to mull over the tastings and subsequent wine purchases. If you are short on time this is a great option but if you have a little more time, try a full day tour or arrange to stay in the Wairarapa overnight.

Thanks for the great review Maxine, much appreciated. Always a pleasure to hear guests have enjoyed their day out with us and delighted to hear you'll be back to give some of the other wonderful wineries of the region a go. Cheers!

Disappointing

The driver didn't have a head set and microphone so the 75 minute drive to/from Martinborough was not blessed with any commentary. The first winery that we stopped at could not accommodate us - poor planning. There was a sense of being rushed through the three wine tastings that were on offer. None more so than the last when the perfunctory tasting accompanied a very average lunch (not included). Overall a disappointing experience

From Winery Tour - 5 hour Martinborough Wineries

Sorry to hear about your less than ideal experience with us Geoffrey. We have been trying to accommodate requests on the day and as such we didn't book all of the three tasting in advance. This was done the intention of allowing some flexibility in the itinerary to meet the interests of guests. On your tour this meant we were unable to get into the 1st winery requested. We have since reviewed this policy and now we book all stops in advance during busy periods or on busy days. This means less flexibility on the day but a smoother tour experience. Guests still have the ability to make winery requests in advance, prior to tour departure. Lunch is not built into our Martinborough Winery Tour but we give guests the chance to get lunch at some point during the tour. This option varies with the availability of cafes/wineries etc over the course of the week. Most locations are open 5 days a week so we do offer different locations depending on availability. In your case you visited a winery that has a wildly popular tapas style shared plate menu option that is well known so that's just a case of your own personal meal preferences I guess. Your opinion is at odds with the vast majority of our guests including the other guests on your tour.
