Highlights

  • Learn to ride a Segway Personal Transporter
  • Enjoy the Sensation of the Segway 'glide'
  • Enjoy the Heritage Sites and architecture of the Village
  • Ride to the Summit of the Volcanic Cone with effortless ease
  • Be Wowed by the view
  • Explore the early history of Auckland City

You'll be surprised by how easy it is to ride a Segway and once you've mastered the art you'll want one of your own. That's how it is for people who try something new. We give you one to one tuition and plenty of time to practice riding before we take to the pavements towards North Head to explore the Fort from the 1880s.

Of course, it's been a Pa site in the 1300s called Maungauika and that is what we prefer to call it today. Riding around the waterfront in Devonport we point out all the historic buildings we know the history of and a few other things besides as we make our way past one of our favourite swimming holes (bring your bathing suits and towels, you might want to take a dip after you've completed your Segway Tour).

Then we start our ascent to the Summit of this Volcanic Cone. Once at the top you'll want to take time to breathe in the spectacular views of Auckland City and the Hauraki Gulf and get your bearings as you can see 360 degrees for miles from this vantage point.

We'll take you through some tunnels, (we can't do them all as there are so many of them tunnelling through this volcanic cone) and you'll get up close to figure out just how that "disappearing gun' worked way back in the 1800s.

Then we're off to the beach, through parks and the back streets to enjoy the heritage that makes Devonport Village so special and to have the joy of riding the Segway Personal Transporter.
