Excellent experience. Loved it!
Thoroughly enjoyed our time at Goldfields. The 2 ladies running it were amazing. So much knowledge to share. Husband got right into panning for gold that we had to be kicked out at closing. Well worth the stop
It's a little diffrent tourist attraction, but that makes it cool.
We were absolutely blown away with the way such an important part of New Zealand history has been so well preserved and presented. You get a real sense of how life would have been for the men who lived here not so long ago and the conditions they must have endured to find their fortune in a barren country. The tour guide was absolutely wonderful with such a passion for educating our group on the history and life/tools etc. We thoroughly enjoyed panning and brought home two flakes of gold to show for our efforts. Thank you so much for such an enjoyable experience, my kids will be talking about this for a while, they are also enjoying the 'Children of the Rush' book. There have already been requests for a return visit!

Cool place to visit
Some inspiring talks on gold and how people made/found their fortune. We then got shown some old machinary used to break down the rocks containing gold. Also got a chance to pan for gold but ran out of time - only got 2 flakes of gold. There was also a self-guided walk you could do but didn't have time.
