The missus was THRILLED

Has a wonderful time. I Love hiking so I was always gonna have fun. My girlfriend is far less enthused when hiking is the activity. But the view was just amazing. She even ended up mastering the art of sand drifting down the big hill. The tour guides were fantastic too - well informed but also just good fun. 10/10 would recommend. We often think about this great time! P.S. the car ride up is not at all a rollercoaster. Not sure what the other reviews are about. Tis a little bumpy at most and I would be shocked if anyone would let this stop them from the fantastic experience.

Amazing

The staff are excellent. Lovely young people.the walk was beautiful. Easy uphill hard to keep balance sometimes coming down hills but a lot of fun. I'm 64 overweight not overly fit and enjoyed it immensely. Younger people managed with ease. Nothing was too extreme the lovely guides kept it at a reasonable pace totally recommend

EPIC Day doing the Mount Tarawera Guided Walk.

From the 4WD experience up/down the mtn road, which rivals any theme park experience (note, not for the faint hearted!) to the stunning views and landscapes of Mt Tarawera, and the surrounded scenery, right through to the scree run down into the crater (also not for the faint hearted!). The walk isn't long (in km's), has a few steep sections, but they aren't long, good sturdy walking shoes/boots with good grip 100% recommended. The views/topography all around the craters (there are three craters!) and from the summit were exceptional! (Rivals the Tongariro crossing!). You can see all the Rotorua Lakes, The coast (Whakaari, Whale Is, Motiti Is) and inland to Mt Ruapehu even. Recommend on a bluebird/no wind day (we were very lucky!). Guides very relaxed and made everything seem easy. Lovely guys. Would 100% recommend.

Stunning... a really unique adventure

I highly recommend this trip, but it's not for the faint-hearted. The bus ride is rough and off-road, but it adds to the adventure. The hike and scree run are incredible experiences, with breathtaking scenery. This is a deeply spiritual place, and I'm grateful for the opportunity to access it and hear the stories shared by the local iwi.
