Take to the skies and experience flying a plane on Megazone Silverdale's hottest new attraction - the 737 Flight Simulator! Loads of fun for all, aspiring pilots and anyone looking for a unique experience will love getting a taste of what flying is really like!
Choose from the two experiences below:
Auckland Flight Experience - 30 Mins
Fly a plane around the city of sails and take it all in from above with 30 minutes of fly time, taking off from Whenuapai Airport. Your route takes you past iconic landmarks including flying under the Harbor bridge and past the Sky Tower before climbing 3,000ft for your final landing at Auckland International Airport.
Auckland to Wellington Flight Experience - 2 Hours
Pilot the popular Auckland to Wellington flight route and get a taste of all the intricacies involved along the way! The simulator plane can be started in either a cold and dark state or turn around state (taken over from other pilots), after which you'll set everything up using realistic flight data, take off and control the plane until you reach 10,000ft. Once high enough, flick over to auto-pilot then enlist the help of your co-pilot to set up for landing in Wellington, including reading charts and setting the correct radio frequency. Then take on the infamous Wellington cross winds and land on Wellingtons runway!

room with a view
Locked in a small room with no windows might seem like a strange way to spend a few hours but I cant recommend the 737 flight simulator enough. My instructor pilot showed me the controls and explained the systems that control the airplane and then it was over to me to taxi along the runway ( harder than you might imagine) and take off over Auckland ( in my case - but other options have you flying to other cities to try out your skills on the different approaches) With the helpful hints and great instruction we did a flyby of our neighbourhood and over the bridge past skytower and out over Rangitoto and the islands of the gulf before turning back towards Auckland airport and my chance to land ( without crashing) A great way to test your skills, book with a friend or two and compare your abilities as a pilot. with all the thrill and no threat to the population I will be back to try my luck at another airport soon.

Flight simulator
On the flight simulator, the Captain was very friendly and helpful. He adjusted the trip to our wannabe pilots experience. They loved it. It was also good being able to take passengers so we could all have some fun. The place was clean & tidy and there were lots of arcade games so we stayed after to play around. Great afternoon
