It was 1.5 hours into a 4 hour trip before we were allowed to touch any fishing rods despite the crew enjoying them - we had to be a little insistent. We had paid good money for a "fishing" trip - not a "watching" trip - and we had hoped that a private charter would result in more rod time. The guys were pleasant enough although were perhaps keener to be catching their own dinners for the rest of the week - reinforced at the end of the trip when we asked for the [disappointing] 3 caught fish to be filleted for us to take away - the lack of a filleting knife, bags etc made this overly difficult - but again we were insistent.
We did however have a great dinner that evening at one of the local restaurants who do a good deal using your own fresh fish!
