Our small group tours give you the opportunity to view the remote Catlins coast. You'll observe not only diverse and dramatic scenery but unique wildlife that call this place home.
We set a leisurely course along the coastline, viewing the rocky islets that give you a sense of scale only achievable by kayak. Your experienced guide will seek out the rare and endangered wildlife that inhabit this area. You’ll watch the steady activity of the fur seal colony as they play between the water and rocky shore. You’ll marvel at the albatross if it comes in close and we’ll scan the sky for the vast number of sea birds flying above. The sea lion may roar below us, a dolphin porpoise past or a blue penguin dart by. From the wave eroded rocks referred to as ‘The Nuggets’, we’ll see the envious visitors high above at The Nugget Point Lighthouse before we journey back to our historical launching bay.

Brilliant and personalized
Such an amazing experience! Lots of seals, sea lions and albatross. Jared was a great, experienced and knowledgeable guide. Would definitely recommend this to others.
This is a kayaking trip to tell your friends and family about. No, really, it is. We have kayaked in Glacier Bay, Tahoe, Able Tasman, and other places and each has its own special character. Here, at Nugget Point, we kayaked in seas that come across the oceans from the deep south. Indeed, off the end of Nugget Point the next landfall is Antartica. But on this absolutely glorious mid winter morning the sea was calm (Southern Ocean calm - just a gentle southern swell) and the sun shone out of a blue sky. Jared, our guide, really knows his stuff. He is a local, from a commercial fishing background right off Nugget Point, and he knows these seas. His kayaks are professionally maintained and well equipped. He has all the gear essential for safety, plus commercial grade communications equipment in case of emergency. You can feel very confident in his abilities. The seascape out on the ocean is magnificent. The colour of the water is not easy to describe, but is immersive and refreshing. Southern Albatrosses checked us out, on the rocks the fur seals basked in the sun and other species of birds flocked on the rocks. We were out for 3 hours and could have stayed another 3. Some days are just like this, perfect for a particular experience, and this was one of this days. Thanks Jared for the trip.
What a great day out on the water. It was only myself and my boyfriend. We were on birthday weekend getaway from Queenstown. Visiting Nugget Point before we were interested in taking a tour from the water and it beat all expectations. Our guide was fantastic and very knowledgeable. We seen penguins, albatross, fur seals and sea lions. The weather was perfect and the sea conditions weren't half bad either. it was nice knowing our host offered a full refund if conditions weren't up too standard. I have told all my friends about this experience and look forward to doing it again in the future.
