Highlights

  • Sperm whales
  • Coastal and sea views

Depart from the Helipads straight over the Kaikōura Whale Sanctuary to view some of nature’s most amazing marine life. This extended tour gives you longer to view the wildlife and the opportunity for a landing in a helicopter accessible only location.

Kaikōura is located on the migratory routes for Humpback whales, Southern right whales, Orca and even Blue whales depending on the time of year. You'll experience stunning vistas of the Seaward Kaikōura Mountain Ranges, as well as the Kaikōura Peninsula and gain a sense of the vastness of the Pacific Ocean.

After a successful whale sighting fly along the coastline spotting other wildlife including the resident populations of playful Dusky dolphins as well as New Zealand fur seals, with the gorgeous backdrop of mountains and sea at every turn.

The experience is rounded off with an exclusive landing at a site accessible only by South Pacific Helicopters. Here you are given the opportunity to hop out the aircraft and experience incredible vistas of the mountains and sea before finishing the flight back at the Kaikoura Airport.
