Porters Ski Field - Beginners Learn to Ski or Snowboard Package
Porters Ski Area is the ideal location to learn to ski in New Zealand.
As the closest ski area to Christchurch with the easiest mountain access road, Porters is the perfect place for your first days on the snow.
Our gentle carpet lift (like a conveyer belt) is designed for the first timers. After a little practise, skiers can transition to the adjacent platter lift and even progress to the chairlift (additional charge).

We can also provide at an additional cost ski pants, jackets, goggles and helmets. Gloves can be purchased at our shop at very reasonable prices.
After a play in the snow come on in and have a warm drink at our modern café.
Facilities:
Please Note: Customers will need to pay a $5.00 deposit when they arrive at the mountain for our plastic id card that allows you to use the lifts. The deposit is refundable.

Fun in the snow
What a great ski field for first timers. The staff were great, equipment hire was easy and lessons were fantastic. The access road was well maintained and it is close enough to Christchurch for a day trip. Our family really enjoyed our day and would recommend Porters to anyone looking for some fun in the snow.
