Ko Tane is the South Island’s ONLY Maori Culture Performance and Hangi Dinner
Based at Willowbank Wildlife Reserve, Ko Tane is an interactive Maori cultural experience that provides a look into our country’s history from the past to the present day in a fun and informative way.
Your evening at Ko Tane will include:
In the village you will be shown the tools and skills of the Maori hunter, his cooking techniques, (your hangi dinner being lifted out of the ground) the games he played to pass away his day and traditional instruments used to communicate with his Gods.
The 45 minute kapahaka performance includes action songs, poi dances, (long and short poi), haka, stick games, weapons displays and the opportunity to learn the poi and haka.
Finally enjoy a four course dinner with hangi cooked mains served by the same performers that entertained you.
Ko Tane is just 20 minutes from Christchurch CBD and 10 minutes from Christchurch Airport.
Transport is not included. Return transfer from central Christchurch accommodation is on request for $30 per person and can be arranged directly with the operator after booking.

The Welcome and Hangi
I really enjoyed the experience of another culture and it was a great insight into the practices of the traditional owners of the land.

Interactive show and dancing was good...? The so called Hãngi meal was disappointing.. Not cooked traditionally which is the main Reason we booked the show and meal...?

Must do experience!
The demonstration/ show/ dances were a wonderful insight, with explanations before and after each dance. Understanding what we were a part of made it more special and I’d recommend this experience to anyone and everyone. The staff were all wonderful and the meal was great, topped off by an opportunity to feed the deer after our main course; a really special touch.
