Snorkelling with wild New Zealand Fur Seals, in the shallow waters of the beautiful Kaikoura Peninsula. A very rare unique experience, anywhere in the world.

Seal Swim Kaikoura invites you to join their family team for an experience of a lifetime!

Swimming with free and untamed New Zealand Fur Seals along the Kaikoura Coast is one of the most incredible wildlife encounters in the world. So graceful, so close!

Their underwater antics and natural curiosity will leave you with a renewed appreciation for these fun loving creatures.

The full length wetsuits provided will help keep you warm and also provide the same buoyancy as a life jacket so you don't have to be a confident swimmer or snorkeler. Our knowledgeable crew have been guiding travellers here since 1987. It will feel good to know that you have the world's most experienced guides with you, to answer questions, teach you how to snorkel and even hold your hand if you want! It won't take long for them to build your confidence!

The pristine bays of the stunning Kaikoura Peninsula is where you'll be taken on the short boat trip and with the beautiful Coastal Kaikoura Rangers as a back drop you'll spend up to an hour swimming and getting to know these playful puppy dogs of the sea. Alternatively, you can stay on the boat and watch others entertain the seals.

You'll need to allow around 2.5 hours for the tour.

Amazing life experience!

The seals are super friendly, playful and curious. They didn't wanna let us go at the end! The staff are great and informative. Last but not least, the wetsuit set including hood and gloves gave me the best comfort to enjoy the swim! Thank you so much for organising this.

Loved the seal swim

Despite the frigid water we had an amazing time. Big seals swimming next to us, young seals swimming under and around us. Lovely family run company. We will definitely do it again though in summer next time!
