Experience authentic Maori Culture with a guided tour of Nga Hau e Marae, a display of traditional Maori Performances showcasing the Haka, plus a delicious New Zealand Hakiri feast!
For an experience that is truly authentic and unique to New Zeland, He Tangata has been established in the South Island to showcase the Maori culture, traditions, stories and food at Nga Hau e Wha Marae, the only National Marae in New Zealand.
Join us as we take you on a fascinating guided tour of Nga Hau e Wha Marae, after first being greeted onto the Marae (traditional meeting place) by way of a Powhiri (traditional welcoming ceremony).
You'll be led into our Wharenui to learn the stories of our great ancestors and the deeds they have accomplished which have enabled their descendants to flourish.
Our amazing technology and light show will bring Maori History to life, as you witness a display of traditional performances including song / dance, and the fierce Haka! To top it all off, our Kapa Haka group will treat you to an exploding performance as you sit down and enjoy a buffet Hakari Feast, made up of a huge variety of New Zealand cuisine and the delicious Hangi!
Location: Nga Hau e Wha Marae is located at 250 Pages Rd, Wainoni, Christchurch.
Thoroughly enjoyed the total experience. The dancing and singingespecially the Harks was inspiring. The explanation of the history of New Zealand was very informative. The buffet meal was excellent, in the top two meals I enjoyed whilst in NZ. Overall an evening to be remembered.
It was amazing, we recommend everyone to do this at least one time. Thank you.
The event did not happen. We booked in June and turned up to no event. Change off ownership our booking was misplaced. Now waiting for refund.
Hi Graham Apologies im so sorry for this ive since learned from taking over the operation that the booking was not on my radar. I am so sorry for this a full refund will be sorted, this is unacceptable and i am embarrassed because of this. He Tangata.
This was a great cultural experience with lovely food and friendly staff. The performers were happy and smiled throughout the show and seemed to be enjoying themselves too. I’ve taken lots of visitors to various cultural shows throughout NZ and this was definitely on a par with them. Awesome to have this in Christchurch. My only issue was eating whilst the performance was happening. I felt disrespectful and it’s difficult to see everything and eat at the same time especially sitting side on to the stage. We also missed out on desserts as felt rushed once the performance had finished. I’d prefer to watch the show then have dinner. Overall this is definitely well worth seeing and I’d definitely take other visitors.
