Take the family for an unforgettable experience as you discover the breathtaking beauty of Okura Marine Reserve.
Just 20 minutes from Auckland City central, you’ll soon be immersed in the abundance of marine and birdlife as you explore the pristine waters of Okura River, Karepiro Bay, and Long Bay Reserve.
You’ll be greeted by the local birds including Tui, Kereru, Oyster-catcher, Pied stilt, Reef Heron, White-faced heron, Dotterel, Fantail, Grey warbler, Kingfisher, Harrier Hawk, Tern, and many more!
Mullet and flounder a regularly seen as you cruise the crystal clear waters, and stingrays are often sighted in the shallows of Okura Estuary and Karepiro Bay.
You’ll paddle past ancient Maori Pa sites and have the opportunity to visit the historic 1850’s Dacre Cottage, where Murtle and Turtle, two resident stingrays are regularly spotted feeding.
Our experienced staff will give you a run down on the operation of their kayaks before heading off, so you’ll be confident on the waters before departing on your spectacular marine adventure.

* This tour is suitable for children 11 years and over, although younger children are welcome accompanied by an adult and if the conditions are suitable.

No previous experience is necessary, but a reasonable level of mobility & fitness is required.

Awesome experience
Had an awesome day out with my kids on the Stingray encounter and marine reserve discovery tour. Beautiful area and you can tell the tour guides are very passionate about what they do. Highly recommended!
