Visit the stunning Coromandel Peninsula on this fun and scenic day trip from Auckland.
Renowned for its untouched native forests, white sandy beaches and breathtaking natural formations, the Coromandel Peninsula is simply a must see location when visiting New Zealand.
Your day trip will begin with a convenient pickup from your inner city accomodation and head south around the Firth of Thames Bay towards the Coromandel.
You will be accompanied by a passionate and experienced driver/guide who knows the area well, taking you to some very special spots on your one day trip. The Journey to the Coromandel passes through fresh native forest and along dreamy coastlines before reaching our first stop at Cathedral Cove.
Cathedral Cove is a breathtaking natural rock formation made famous by appearing in The Chronicles of Narnia movie! We take a short walk from the road and walk beneath the sweeping cove giving you the opportunity to take that perfect photo!
From here your tour guide will suggest a few spots close to Hahei or Hot Water Beach to stop for lunch. After lunch we head to Hot Water Beach - a very special geothermal beach that produces natural hot water from below. Dig your very own spa pool in the sand and relax on the beach, taking in the beautiful views of the coastline. Once we've had a decent soak we head back to Auckland, topping off a day trip to be remembered.
Guide friendly and obliging. Small group works well. Transport clean and comfortable. Suggestion to set out day criteria early in the day to allow people to organise food and change into swimming gear. Note option of boat ride into Cathedral Cove available, check with driver before walking the 30 minutes on track. Would recommend trip.
The actual trip to Coromandel was fantastic as was our guide Mac. The journey was broken up with a couple of stops on the way to hot water beach, be aware that the 'hot water' section gets very busy and you will need a spade to dig a hole (available to rent @$10). Next to cathedral cove. I had read that there is a ferry ($20 each way) you and catch if you don't want to do 30 min hike with 150 steps by the beach, however the ferry wasn't running on my visit as the sea was a bit choppy. Instead I opted for a cathedral cove boat tour (extra cost)which was awesome. Skidding along the top of the water but stopping often for photos our guide/driver was very knowledgeable about where we were and why the rocks & caves got their names. He finished the 16km boat ride with the blow hole (only able to access at high tide so not available on all trips) which was absolutely astounding. There is a long walk on the beach to access the rib for the boat trip. Back to the small coach (21 on our trip not the maximum advised on bookme) for the journey back to Auckland. Well worth the time.
1. No one from Mana tour will answer your phone calls or texts. 2. Morning meet up is bus stop 7088 beside the art gallery. 3.going to the Hot water beach first , and then Cathedral cove . Spend around 1.5 hours at each place . 4. The cost for renting a shovel is$10 at the hot water beach. 5. Around 45 minutes walk to Cathedral Cove. 6. Lunch time is only half an hour, try to each at every stop ,or bring enough snacks.
Hi! I have a complaint about the tour on the 11th of February to the Coromandel Peninsula. I am very unhappy with the experience I had with you and your company. Not only did you ignore so many of my mails, you also had canceled the first tour before the rescheduling due too the flood, that had happened the day before. But you canceled 20 minutes before the tour started. So I was already at the meeting point. You could have easily known this had to be canceled the day before! When the tour finally happened on the 11th you didn't manage to check wheater the track to the Cathedral Cove was open or not. And it wasn't. Also there was no hot water on the Hot water beach and we weren't even given shovels to at least try. The bus driver did not give any information about the sites visited, New Zealand or it's history and seemed very desintered in the group. Also few people of probably this family or friends accompanied him, which sat in the front and talked to the driver while the tour in their own language, which felt like thirdweeling a family trip to the beach and not a professional tour. Also too many too long stops at toilets and the city where you can buy food. Also the stops that were scheduled to be 30min got prolonged by the family or friends of the bus driver more than once up to 45 minutes as if they had special rights to the tour. The day was already horrible, so no need to make it even longer and more unbearable. This was a very long tour with basically no sights, a complete waste of a day! I have sent this feedback to them multiple times with no response. Either they don't read it or they have a problem with their mailing system. So I hope they finally read this now and refund me and the group if possible, because this was really a miserable trip. But still I wish the company good luck for the future and that they can learn from their mistakes. Despite of that I strongly advise you to take another tour operator for the tour until their problems are fixed!

Customer Service - Amazing
I cannot comment on the tour itself however, I can comment on the great customer service that I received from the tour operator Mana Tours. Following a rather frustrating booking mix up (not theirs), they were in contact with me as soon as they were aware of the error and fully refunded me. To Mana Tours, thank you for taking control and rectifying the situation - your actions are very much appreciated and I highly recommend the use of your services to others.
