The bikes were in good condition and the service was excellent. The only thing I missed was more details about where to ride, it is really confusing.
Service was friendly and helpful, which good as I'd not used an e-bike before. I was there earlyish and outside a ferry arrival time so that made things easier
Great quality bikes but service was chaotic (tho friendly). No-one there to meet us at the 10am pick up time & no answer on the phone. I think that's called "island time"! We were sorted & away about 10.45am ish & had a nice day. Waiheke traffic is busy so would be good to have a heads up re quieter routes around the island. Glad we gave it a go :)
Waiheke has hills, don't we know it. But I booked a "full day's experience", expecting to cycle for maybe up to five hours, only to find that the power on my bicycle, equipped with a new battery, was only good for 3½ hours. Fortunately I had held lots of breaks along the way: one hour cycling, one hour break in a rhythm that was twice repeated. It was on my fourth cycling hour when returning to base that the power gave out on me. Rather surprisingly I was then told that the road on the first four kilometres of the sealed road to Orapiu included a hill that the bicycles are not equipped to handle. That was not told me before I set out for the day nor was it at all clear that that hill was any steeper or longer than any of the other many uphill stretches I cycled. In retrospect I should just have dumped the bicycle near some bus stop and returned to the wharf by bus. As a result of returning fractionally before the hour I missed out on catching the 5 o'clock ferry - and also missed out on the complementary drop-off which would have seen me get the ferry on time.
