See for yourself the actual Hobbiton Movie Set where Peter Jackson filmed his famous Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit film trilogies.
Your journey begins when we conveniently pick you up from a central Auckland location of your choice and board our modern and comfortable vehicles. Relax as you enjoy a two-hour scenic drive into the rolling farmlands of the Waikato. We will also make a few stops along the way so you can take some photos of the amazing landscapes.
Upon arrival at the world-famous movie set, you’ll be able to spend some time in the official Hobbiton Gift Shop and enjoy a drink and bite to eat at the unique Shire’s Rest Café. Next up is an intriguing two-hour fully guided tour through acres of beautiful farmland with incredible views of the Kaimai Ranges.
We will then journey onto the 12-acre movie site and see the Hobbit Holes, The Mill, and The Double Arched Bridge before enjoying a complimentary drink in The Green Dragon Inn. After the tour, we will board the van where you can reflect upon your exceptional day on the scenic drive back to Auckland.
Departures: Pick-up is from any central Auckland location. After booking, you will be contacted by the tour operator directly to arrange pick up details.

Amazing Experience! 100% Worth It!
Our Hobbiton Movie Set Tour began at 6.30am where we received a warm welcome by our driver and guide Warren (who also joked about us being 5 ft tall hobbits). The drive from Auckland to Matamata was comfortable and relaxing. Our guide was really knowledgeable and kept us entertained throughout with fun facts about New Zealand. The 2-hr Hobbiton guided tour was however, too short and felt quite rushed as there was hardly sufficient time for us to immerse ourselves in the beauty of the movie set. During the drive back, we stopped by Lake Karapiro for some photos and also Pokeno for some ice cream. Overall, a wonderful and memorable experience! Many thanks to Auckland & Beyond Tours as well as our amazing guide Warren! :)

Thank you for this informative review of Auckland & Beyond Tours day experience to the Hobbiton Movie Set. Starting 1st December 2023 the Hobbiton guided tour will increase the duration to an extra 30 minutes so you can enjoy extra time inside the Hobbit holes.. you'll have to come back and visit us again!

Very dissatisfied
I booked this trip and was so excited. Sadly two days before I was taken very ill and admitted to hospital. I contacted ‘Book me’ to cancel as I was in hospital but they refused to give me a refund

Excellent tour!
Pick up was earlier than expected (5:50am instead of 6:30am as stated when booking) but was from a nearby location for us. The trip to an from Hobbiton was good, freeway to scenic drive through the country side was beautiful, and a stop along the way to stretch out legs, have snacks and enjoy the view! The Hobbiton tour itself was amazing! Auckland and Beyond provided great communication leading up to the tour and on the tour as well!

좋아요
좋아요 근데 생각만큼 엄청 좋진 않아요 약간 루즈하기도 하구요. 다같이 움직이는 것보다 앞부분에서 어느정도만 설명해주고 자유롭게 돌아다니게 하는 것도 좋을 것 같아요 두번은 안 갈 것 같아요 그렇다고 재미없었다는 것은 아닙니다~! 한번은 가볼만해요
