Set deep within the heart of the Marlborough Sounds lies the Queen Charlotte Sounds renowned for its spectacular views, drowned river valleys and lush coastal forests.

You're adventure will begin from the pretty coastal town of Picton as you board a water taxi and venture across the crystal clear waters of the Sound towards the beautiful Torea Bay.

The 23 kilometre walk to Punga Cove offers outstanding scenery, challenging terrain and panoramic views of Kenepuru and Queen Charlotte Sounds. This exceptional walk is the finest and most diverse coastal track in New Zealand and is steeped in rich Maori and European history.

On arrival at Punga Cove, a meal and refreshments can be purchased from the historic Boatshed Café & Bar. Sit back, relax and feel the tranquility as you reflect on your days epic adventure. At 4.20-4.30pm board the boat at the Punga Cove Wharf for your relaxing and scenic cruise ride back to Picton, arriving back between 5.30pm and 6pm.

This walk is a once in a lifetime experience that will literally leave you feeling on top of the world!

  • IMPORTANT - Please Note: Due to the nature of our trips we have a strict check-in policy. All participants must arrive and check-in at least 30 minutes prior to the scheduled trip time. Failure to do so may result in the forfeit of your ticket and will be strictly non-refundable or transferable.

    Please Note: The land between Torea Bay and Punga Cove is privately owned and a Land Pass is required to travel this land. The Land Pass is $12.00 per Adult, with Children up to the age of 18 years old freeof charge. The Land Passes can be purchased in the office on the day of departure.

    Hot Deal Specials: The operator in very rare occasions, not withstanding all endeavours, may have to reschedule the time slightly if load requirements dictate and or refund on rare occasions.

    Available to purchase for $6 in the office before you depart are Beachcomber Cruises keep cups, we no longer use single use cups on board our vessels due the huge environmental impact. Upon purchase of a Beachcomber Cruises keep cup guests can enjoy tea and coffee onboard for the duration of the tour.


  • Ages: Child prices apply to ages 5-14 years old. Infants aged 0-4 years old are free of charge.

    Parking: Car parking can be found at the bottom of Wellington Street and is $5.00 per day, Please pay as you park by entering your number plate in the machine.

    Beachcomber Cruises Terms and Conditions:

    A refund of the total price less 10% will be given if booking is cancelled 48 hours in advance. Bookings cancelled within 48 hours, no refund due.

    Beachcomber Cruises reserves the right to amend timetables, cancel departures, substitute plant and equipment and alter ticket prices without prior notification.

Ein Erlebnis der besonderen Art

Ein sehr besonderes Erlebnis. Die Zeit von 8h für die 24,5 km ist machbar, wenn man einen zügigen Schritt drauf hat und nicht so viele Pausen macht. Meiner Meinung nach ist es das Geld absolut wert. Man sieht echt viel vom Kenepuru und Queen Charlotte Sounds.

Dieser Tagesausflug war wirklich einer der schönsten, die ich in Neuseeland gemacht habe! Das Wetter war toll und die Wanderung noch besser! Sie war lang, ja und ich war am Ende auch erschöpft, keine Frage. Aber definitiv lohnenswert, die Aussicht über beide Sounds ist ein Traum und die Wegweiser, die es überall zu bestaunen gibt, machen deutlich, warum man sich auf dem "top of the world walkway" befindet! Etwas gestört hat mich nur, dass ich noch 10$ "Weggebühr" zahlen musste, das hätte ich einfach gerne vorher gewusst.

Toller Track

Ich hab gestern den Ausflug gemacht. Statt 79 habe ich über BookMe 59$ gezahlt. Über dem Track muss ich glaube nichts mehr verlieren, wunderschön bei gutem Wetter. Ein wenig anstrengend aber unterm Strich lohnenswert! Wassertaxis sind ja hier generell etwas teuer und so fand ich auch 59$ + 10$ Trackfee relativ teuer. Leider gibt es keine andere Möglichkeit. Der Track ist aber nichts desto trotz zu empfehlen!
