On Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays you have the opportunity to join the world famous Pelorus Mail Run in the Marlborough Sounds

Highlights

  • The gannet colony
  • Dolphins (dusky, common and bottle nose)
  • A Greenshell Mussel farm
  • Tour of an historic ‘off-the-grid’ working farm
  • King Shag colony

Leaving Havelock Marina, you’ll visit isolated homesteads nestled in quiet secluded bays, delivering crucial supplies and mail the same way it has been done for decades.

View mussel farms and see why Pelorus Sound is the mussel capital of the world. Old timers row out in dinghies to meet us, while some receive their supplies on tiny, unspoilt beaches.

The people of the Marlborough Sounds are as much a part of the area as the history and majestic beauty. Join us on our mail boat for the experience of a lifetime. Let us take you on our spectacular mail run or drop you at your accommodation in the Marlborough Sounds. This is authentic tourism in New Zealand at its best!

Location: Our mail boat departs from the friendly little township/village of Havelock roughly half way between Picton and Nelson, or a third of the way between Blenheim and Nelson.

Tolles Erlebnis

The best day trip on the South Island

Superb experience even in the depths of winter - a real insight into community life and spirit around the beautiful Pelorus Sounds - top day trip - up there alongside Milford Sound...the crew are superb and the dolphins made the day extraordinary - do it!

Just unbelievable

The actual route that the tour took us was gorgeous, but Phil and Ferne were so so entertaining and informative for the whole 5/6 hours. We took a 3 day detour and stayed in a caravan to get this boat and it isn't even a question whether it was worth it
